Will Ferrell stars as Harold Crick, a lonely IRS agent whose mundane existence is transformed when he hears a mysterious voice narrating his life. With the help of Professor Jules Hilbert (Dustin Hoffman), Harold discovers he's the main character in a novel-in-progress and that the voice belongs to Karen Eiffel (Emma Thompson), an eccentric author famous for killing her main characters in creative ways. Harold must quickly track down Eiffel and stop her before she conjures up a way to finish him off.

I must have stopped this movie 10 times and now I can't believe I wasted my time finishing it on my sick day off from work. SO slow! I like Will, but he should stick to comedy.
  • Excellent flick

Clever writing, brilliant acting- even though I'm not a big fan of Will. He won me over in this. Emma Thompson could have carried this movie, but luckily she didn't have to.
  • Has its funny moments.

Of them all. And I like a lot of movies. It’s subtle, it’s charming, it’s fun. And I love it.
  • Really nice film 👍

Enjoyed very minute of this quirky tale. Will Farrell can be so good when not playing his typical goofball roles. He’s very good in this film, as is the rest of the cast. Dustin Hoffman is a hoot in his role 🤣🤣🤣 I highly recommend this movie 👍👍😎

This is just silly and ridiculously bland. Whatever attempt was made to create or entertain was lost in the nihilism of a vacuously boring script and blasé actors covered in sketchy skin deep megalomania. I could only watch 3/4 of this dribble.
