Description

When city police find a murder victim who was somehow forced to die of overeating, it puts veteran Detective William Sommerset and his new, talented but still green partner, Detective David Mills, on a desperate hunt for a serial killer who is making statements by staging his victims as tableaus of the Seven Deadly Sins. The first corpse found was "Gluttony," and soon the detectives find more: a lawyer killed because of his Greed; an insurance scammer killed for his Sloth; a fashion model killed for her Pride. Each murder scene is elaborately planned, the victims chosen specifically because of who they are, and posed methodically in death. With time running out for the last two possible victims -- Envy and Wrath -- can Sommerset and Mills get ahead of the killer before his final two acts come to deadly fruition? Starring Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Gwyneth Paltrow and R. Lee Ermey. Directed by Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominee David Fincher.

This easily makes my top 10 of all time movie list. Great thriller, original and with three of the best actors of this time. Freeman of course is amazing. You get to see a rougher version of Pitt. Spacey? Chilling performance as always. The ultimate "crazy guy." The ending is gruesome and shocking. I love it. Watch it at least once.

Great acting. A movie well produced but a little upsetting for me.

This movie inspired a whole new canon of tv shows and films just like air and I think that Morgan freeman and brad Pitt were excellent in their portrayal of two regular detectives.

and you enjoy a tense thriller, you absolutely owe it to yourself to watch this film. Tight and demanding, this film rewards attention. I watch it probably once a year. To my mind, beyond reproach.
  • One of the best from the 90's.

Yeah so a lot of people that seen this probably watched it over and over so it's kind of been a bit buried in a lot of people's movie closets. This movie is worth revisiting for it's beautiful blu ray restoration and brings out the fine details this movie has too offer. Particularly the crime scenes. A lot of heart and effort went into this movie. As well as some of the best performances from Pitt, Freeman, and Paltrow of their careers. I also really like R. Lee Ermney in this. A must see if you like dark mysteries. I think this is David Fincher at his peak, but that is a matter of opinion.

It's like this movie is doing everything in it's power to try and one up Jonathan Demme's masterpiece and it always comes off as trying WAYYYYYYY too hard, leaving you with zero fail in humanity and a subconscious need to shower! This entire film is an abomination and should not be viewed by anyone with a good soul
