MIDNIGHT SON is the story of Jacob, a young man confined to a life of isolation, due to a rare skin disorder that prevents him from being exposed to sunlight. His world opens up when he meets Mary, a local bartender, and falls in love. Tragically, Jacob’s actions become increasingly bizarre as he struggles to cope with the effects of his worsening condition. Forced by the disease to drink human blood for sustenance, he must control his increasingly violent tendencies as local law enforcement narrow their focus on him as a suspect in a series of grisly murders.

  • Amazing movie !!!!!

This movie is amazing. Sad, scary and good looking. Put others blockbusters in the pocket. I recomend this movie for sure.... A masterpiece.....
  • An awesome take on the Vampire tale

    By Datflybody
Gone are the sparkles, lame love triangles, and boring action scenes of the more popular vampire films. This movie takes it back to the roots of the genre. A little slow to start, but once it has its hold, it never lets go. Unique, interesting, and satisfying, I was looking for a cigarette after the movie ended (and I don't even smoke!). Very satisfying.

Really boring, drawn out for time. Avoid this one.
  • Great and unique!

I'm glad I checked this one out. Very well done. The acting and the somber vibe- so well executed. This is no Hollywood glammed out vampire movie. Just the way I like em! Highly recommended!!!
  • Hidden treasure

    By iMarc3G
A film so far removed from contemporary cinematic vampires that you'll wonder why we put up with the Belledwards of this world. It's not quite a fairy tale, yet not quite real in the sense of tedious pseudo-scientific reductionism. Solid performances from compelling actors, flawless effects, and an impressive (if not problem-free) script are three of the strongest of many strong points. Not in the same league as Let the Right One In, but worth every penny of your impulse rental. Arthouse horror fans: Go ahead and buy it.
  • Moody, unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable.

Every once in a while I discover a film which has somehow managed to fly well below most people's radar, and yet surprises me with its intelligence and craft. Some of the treasures I found are films like Devil's Backbone, Primer, TimeCrimes and the original Let The Right One In. When I first watched Midnight Son I was taken aback from the quality of the story and acting…so much so in fact that I absolutely had to get involved in it somehow. Lucky for me, director Scott Leberecht had not yet settled on a music composer for the film and I happily accepted the job. Now, I know what you're thinking -- I worked on it so my opinion is highly biased. While I admit I am probably not the most objective reviewer, I am first and foremost a huge fan of this film. It's a movie that I will always be able to enjoy watching no matter how many times I've seen it. Consider giving it a shot, I promise that you'll be pleasantly surprised! (ok…small plug, if you do like the soundtrack, it is also available right here on iTunes)
  • Not as other reviewers said

    By nanciblue
Not sure how I came to be so disappointed compared to previous reviewers. This was a slow, dark, bloody movie that had ample opportunities to inject intrigue and some dark humor. Not worth the rental price.
  • Quite a good movie

The pace is slow, but pretty engaging once you're settled into the movie.
  • Step Aside Edward and Bella….

    By Moozik17
Step aside Edward and Bella, we have a new, much more realistic vamp couple in town! I loved this low budget film with outstanding acting and great story. It tells of a young man, who upon turning 21 discovers he is changing physically. Through his journey he meets a young woman he falls for and her for him. The movie continues with some very good tense moments and the best killer ending ever! I recommend this for purchase for fans of the genre and at least for rental for those who just want something different to watch.
  • When is the last time you saw a vampire movie...

    By Flooker 2.0
…where you cared about the characters? If you enjoyed "Let the Right One In", I'd say this film is definitely for you. I'd say it's more of a Drama/Thriller than a straight up Horror film, which I believe is a compliment. Great acting all around too. Give it a chance and I think you will be sucked in. ;)
