Description

Eighteen year-old Jules, an opera buff and post office worker, makes a pirate tape of the celebrated diva Cynthia Hawkins who flatly refuses to be recorded. The next day, just before being murdered, a prostitute slips a cassette revealing a scandalous illicit business into the bag on his moped. From this point on, these priceless recordings turn Jules's life upside down, as he is hunted by the police, killers and strange Asian men. Only the enigmatic Gorodish and his muse Alba seem up to saving him from this nightmare...

I'll never forget seeing this movie in college and have been hoping it would make it to itunes. Finally!!!! Everything is really prefect in this film: the acting, the plot, direction and the cinamatography.

I saw this film back in the 80s (released in 1981) and it really was ahead of its time. A piece of cinematic beauty. A must see for any foreign film lover.

when this movie came out it created a new genre: le film culte still after all these years it is obvious, why. This is one of five movies I would choose for "the island" - and I did not yet think about the other four ;-)

Opera, moped chase through the Paris underground, hookers, crooked cops, straight cops, knife throwing crazy, an upstairs loft, big puzzle, and good acting; what's not to like? It's been one of my top 5 favorite movies for the last 25 years. Subtitled, for us non-Francophones.
