Description

Three-time Oscar nominee Tom Cruise delivers the most electrifying performance of his career in this riveting film based on the international best-seller. Cruise plays Mitch McDeere, a brilliant and ambitious Harvard Law grad. Driven by a fierce desire to bury his working-class past, Mitch joins a small, prosperous Memphis firm that affords Mitch and his wife (Jeanne Tripplehorn) an affluent lifestyle beyond their wildest dreams. But when FBI agents confront him with evidence of corruption and murder within the firm, Mitch sets out to find the truth in a deadly crossfire between the FBI, the Mob, and a force that will stop at nothing to protect its interests – "The Firm." Directed by Oscar winner Sydney Pollack and starring Oscar winner Gene Hackman plus a magnificent supporting cast, "The Firm" makes its case as the must-see movie of the year.

With an All star cast this movie brings a story of Power, Greed ,lust and a story of the depravity of ones self played by the incomparable Gene hackman . I loved Holly Hunter ,Her character was funny, charming and lovable. Jennie Tripplehorn was simply magnificent. Wilford Brimley played the devilish corrupt in house security for the firm, in my opinion one of Wilfords best performances! Gary Busey was funny ,straightforward and played his Character with power and finesse . Ed harris and Steven HIll were great ( Stevan Hill Played the Best DA on Tvs Law & Order! ) and for the little part he had, he was Awesome .MY FAVORITE CHARACTER WAS PLAYED BY TOM CRUISE. As the story Begins we are introduced to a well educated Harvard law Graduate. Were top Law firms are all clamoring for his bid to become a lawyer at there firm . But Mitch soon finds out that this little Memphis law firm is as corrupt and depraved as the clients the firm represents .Mitch then makes the decision to crush the very Evil that lies within the Firm ,with intellect and precision . There comes a point in ones life when He or she makes the decision what road to take . While watching this movie think of always making the right choice to never compromise your integrity and Beliefs. because if you choose not to compromise ,you will have less regrets in your life. Many Blessings to ALL this movie is a must Have!!!!

This tense, intricate exciting film holds up well over the decades and is an essential component of any Tom Cruise collection. Cruise has arguably made the best script choices of any Hollywood megastar. The fact that it's difficult to name a bad Tom Cruise script, is a tribute to Mr. Cruise's intelligence and instincts. From his earliest teen movies through his youthful, earnest do-gooder roles in "A Few Good Men" and "The Firm" to his legendary science fiction endeavors including "War of the Worlds", "Vanilla Sky", "Minority Report", and "Edge of Tomorrow", the Cruise brand has maintained it's reputation for quality big budget Hollywood movie-making. When "The Firm" was made it was hard to imagine the incredible body of work which was to follow. His dedication to the craft and deep understanding of character are part of the reason Cruise has enjoyed his superstar status for four decades. In "The Firm" he portrays Mitch McDeere, a Harvard Law school graduate a character who is, on the surface, a superficial caricature of an upwardly mobile yuppie lawyer trying to work his way up and keep his head above water while swimming in a pool full of wise, dishonest and very deadly sharks. The film is filled with great performances from an all-star supporting cast led by Gene Hackman who turns in his typical excellent rendition of a crooked, philandering, hard drinking yet surprisingly empathetic and guilt ridden senior member of the firm. (Hackman had a conflict with the studio over his name being above the movie title and removed his name from the credits.) Jeanne Tripplehorn is perfect as McDeere's wife who has her suspicions about The Firm right from the start despite her husband's naive "all in" eagerness to get a great paycheck right out of college. Holly Hunter is great as the secretary of a private eye played by Gary Busey. Yes this film has a cast that simply won't quit. Wilford Brimley plays an evil head of security for the firm. Ed Harris plays the FBI agent investigating the firm. Hal Holbrook plays a dark evil senior partner. Paul Sorvino is pivotal as mob boss Tommy Morolto. David Strathairn plays Ray McDeere, the brother in jail for manslaughter. While the film takes huge liberties with the John Grisham novelon which it is based, it does so for good reason - what works in book form simply doesn't always work well in a 98 minute movie. But putting that fact aside, if you simply enjoy the film for what it is, you won't be sorry. Definitely worth owning.

Love the book, hate the movie! The book had so much more suspense. It kept my attention a lot more than the movie did.

Hands down the worst movie off a book ive ever seen. They left out more than half the storyline and the music score, awful. Piano whales on and on throughout and the acting, its Tom Cruise. Save your money. Epic fail

This is a really good movie BUT when you get to the last 18 minutes or so it locks up and you can't watch the ending. That's very disappointing.

I'd definitely would give it 4 and 1/2 stars. It is an interestingly told, many layered story. The story unfolds and comes together in a way that makes sense. All the characters seem like they have their own lives or stories and not just there to move the film along. Very satisfying and I am not a big Tom Cruise fan but he is really okay in this.
