Wes Craven, the director of The Serpent and the Rainbow and Shocker, locks you inside the most terrifying house on the street. Trapped inside a fortified home owned by a mysterious couple, a young boy is suddenly thrust into a nightmare. The boy quickly learns the true nature of the house's homicidal inhabitants and the secret creatures hidden deep within the house. Stunning visuals highlight this inventive film that the San Francisco Chronicle calls, "Wes Craven's most satisfying movie."

Yes the couple from twin peaks, play bro and sis in this film, I think. Anyway, it's a good, odd, funny horror film.

I'm hoping this movie is the same one I watched as a kid. It was one my favorites then and still is today.

One of my favorite "horror" movies ever.
  • Not a Horror Movie

    By Looking for Scary
If you are looking for scary, this isn't it. I rented the movie based on all the great reviews and was extremely disappointed. It is more silly, as some previous reviews mentioned. Odd story, not scary, silly rather than funny. Not good.
  • Not scary , more silly, but definitely entertaining. Typical Craven.

I thought this movie was very entertaining. Not really a scary movie, it definitely has a creepy vibe. It's got the typical Wes Craven humor, which makes it a bit silly, but that's the fun of his films. Worth a watch if you like his films.

I remember watching this on Halloween when I was little and it gave me nightmares. Now, over a decade later... it's just a great twisted movie. It definitely one of my favorites.
