Description

Cary Grant plays John Robie, reformed jewel thief who was once known as "The Cat," in this suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock classic thriller. Robie is suspected of a new rash of gem thefts in the luxury hotels of the French Riviera, and he must set out to clear himself. Meeting pampered heiress Frances (Grace Kelly), he sees a chance to bait the mysterious thief with her mother's (Jessie Royce Landis) fabulous jewels. His plan backfires, however, but France, who believes him guilty, proves her love by helping him escape. In a spine-tingling climax, the real criminal is exposed.

How can you go wrong with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly! Who cares about the plot when these two powerhouse actors are on screen together? Worth renting!

It's is a classic example of a "classic" movie. I love this era of movies. They had substance and a story. You can loose yourself in this movie. Cary Grant is a man's man. I love his movies. Comedies, suspense, action, and the drama's all of them.

Suave sophistication and uncompromised beauty and elegance with genuine acting that isn’t “acting”. Great story, made all the better with a strong cast and direction.
  • Hands down, 5 stars, EXCELLENT!

I’m not a person who typically watches movies from this era, although there must be a reason they are classics. I decided to give it a try, hoping I wouldn’t be too bored. It was better than any movie out there today. You don’t need the special effects to achieve a great story line, and Grace Kelly is perfection as is Cary Grant. I am grateful I bought this movie, as I will enjoy it for years to come with my family!

Watched this with my much younger wife. I had forgotten the incredible scenery, the wonderful acting, the gorgeous leading characters and the skillful writing and directing. Great fun, and a great classic.

This movie was soooo good. I saw it in theater in the '50's and it is still great acting and a great movie. The scenery , Paris countryside was great.

Alfred Hitchcock is a fantastic director and this movie is one of his best! With beautiful scenery, a creative story, and two of the best actors in history (Who could hate the talented Cart Grant or the beautiful Grace Kelley?), I found this movie to be amazing! I love old movies and this is a good one!
