Two ordinary guys in a small town who embark on an extraordinary adventure, risk everything for a stranger in need.
A breath of fresh air
While superheroes dominate the multiplex and dark, complicated series proliferate our TVs, this charming indie film offers a very pleasant alternative. Starring veteran character actors (and real life BFF's) William Fichtner and Kim Coates, Cold Brook is about a couple of blue collar dudes in anytown USA (Western NY) who are crusing through middle age with games of paintball and lots of beer sessions while their wives grow quietly impatient. These all-American Peter Pans experience an existential crisis when they keep encountering a mysterious stranger with a connection to their local history. Is he a ghost? A time traveler? Or just a metaphor for finding their own ways back home? There's no real puzzle to solve here, no car chases, explosions and not so much as a single F-bomb – outside of Friendship. While it's unlikely to gain a mainstream audience, those who are up for a feel-good movie with a touch of magic should find this story oddly endearing in all the right ways.
Cold Brook, Warm Heart
Clean. Simple. Quiet. Real. Honest. Beautifully acted and directed without calling attention to itself.
Love the 2main actors however the movie is slow and boring with a predictable ending don’t waste your time
I love these two main actors, but this movie was very much a downer for me!
