  • Coming Out Tragedy

    By cv888
This is a coming out tragedy overshadowed by the behavior and actions of an overbearing, egotistic, over the hill straight dude. The script and direction don't seem to provide any significant opportunity for character development. The movie is so short, whatever "forgiveness" we as vieweres are supposed to pick up on is incredibly poorly built out. The best part is the interaction of the friends of the engaged women. The rest is a story that falls utterly flat on its face - in other words, a waste of time.

  • Don't rent it!

The first time I watched this movie it broke my heart and it was extremely uncomfortable emotionally. The second time I watched it, I began to understand what exactly it was that made it so heartbreaking and ultimately why I came to love it. It made me “feel things” and that’s good, even when you don’t always understand what you are feeling. There are some funny moments in it but overall it’s definitely more of a Comedy-Drama. Matt Glave, is amazing and quite funny as the irresponsible dad and Jana Winternitz also puts in a good performance as the wounded daughter/lover. But there is no doubt that Emily Bett Rickards as Kim, steals the show. Rickards is absolutely mesmerizing as Kim and rarely will you see another actor who can show so much emotion with just subtle facial changes and playing their eyes . I knew of Emily Bett Rickards like so many from her role as Felicity on Arrow, but make no mistake that except for some puzzling coincidences between the dad’s profession and her being a mega-star for her role on Arrow, Rickards is fully capable of stepping out of her iconic role and making you believe in this character without comparing them. Perhaps the original focus of this film was the reconnection of a father and daughter, but the person you come away caring the most about is Kim. She is desperately trying to survive the emotional contusions her life has given her and her choices bear that out. Within the build up to the pivotal scene in which the rest of the movie relies, there are so many subtle call-backs to Kim’s past that when it’s over, you feel like you have emotional whiplash. You might go into this film thinking Kim is a deeply flawed individual and perhaps the villin of the film, but when it’s over, you just want to wrap your arms around her and save her from herself at any cost.

Love the original story and how family dynamics and our short comings. Healing is possible when we show love and respect.
  • Just Poor

The summary sounded great. Did not deliver. Poor screenplay, writing and mediocre acting, probably due to the poor screenplay and writing. I really wanted to like this movie, but no.
  • Not bad!!!

A movie for any middleaged father with an adult daughter!
  • Pulls off awkward in a wonderfully charming way

    By eltopoman
Awkward moments, abandonment, love, betrayal and loyalty all clash in this wonderfully charming dramedy between family and friends. Great performaces ground the story for a wonderful ride along the California coast and within the psyches of characters hiding secrets, trying to love and coming to terms with life's curveballs. Nothing to really doslike here.
  • Such a great movie!

This movie is the perfect mix of comedy and drama. It makes both of the main character seem utterly real, neither are the villain or hero of the story. Emily Bett Rickards is breathtaking in the lead female role, and I am so excited to see what she does next.
  • Tragicomedy at its finest

Laughed, cried, enjoyed the many queer ladies on screen at once. Emily Bett Rickards delivers an absolutely stunning performance as Kim, and every scene was charged with emotion.
  • Wasted money!

I feel like I wasted money renting this movie. The whole storyline just wasn’t to my liking.
