Description

Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man – Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – has ever walked in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Academy Award® winning director Robert Zemeckis uses advanced technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. The Walk is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.

The movie was great and I love how he balanced in this movie. I just saw this movie twice now. I saw it a year ago on May 20 and yesterday at my friend's house on TV. Inspiring film.

Robert Zemeckis is truly a great director! The visuals, pacing, and storytelling are brilliant! Joseph Gordon-Levitt draws you in with his impeccable charm and you immediately like him. Like him enough to the point where you root for him no matter what he does, even if, in hindsight, it really is crazy! That’s how all main characters should be in my opinion. Either that or the lovable antihero. Another amazing fact about this film that makes it awesome is that the actual man that did this (Philippe Petit) actually trained Joseph Gordon-Levitt to walk on the wire. So, in conclusion, great director, visuals, acting, storytelling, and tightrope walking! Well done!

Funny, the New Republic’s critic dismissed a scene I found compelling. ‘To each his own’, but this story is amazing and the movie very well done.

I really wanted to like this one but it unfortunately suffers by comparison to Man on Wire. I could care less how long a movie is as long as the story can, at the very least, support it, but this one needed editing. A trimmer and less of a leisurly place might have made some difference. I've also never found Joseph Gordon Levitt to be appealing and his accent is grating as hell. The climax however is magnificent and that in itself reccomends The Walk. It was cathartic to see the towers again in all their majestic glory. I miss them dearly and the final sentences spoken in the movie are heartbreaking but also somehow disarmingly sweet.

A ridiculous waste, without the depth or the drama of Man on a Wire. Every step is false, from the first to the last.

Thank you for such a remarkable movie, one filled with such determination, love for life and pure grace. I would have loved to seen this in 3D. I can't image how beautiful it all looked in 3D. Those towers were breathtaking and so was the walk!
